Alharbi: The data revolution must be used to enhance the statistics sector

On the sidelines of the first Gulf Statistical Forum

Riyadh, March 22, 2017:  Based on its belief in the importance of the fruitful cooperation between the public and private sectors in the field of statistics,and on the ground of its concern with the advanced statistical methods and its role in updating the databases fifteen years ago , Eye of Riyadh participated in the first Gulf Statistical Forum which was launched in Riyadh under the sponsorship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz under the theme of “Enhancing Statistical Partnerships to Support Economic Policies and Sustainable Development in the GCC Region”. Mr. Abdullah Al-Harbi, the CEO of Eye of Riyadh indicated - after being honored by the Minister of Economy and Planning the Eng. Adel bin Muhammad Fakeih and by the attendance of  the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani – to the importance of getting benefit  from the data revolution in strengthening the statistics sector locally and in the Gulf, confirming that 'Our objectives in Eye of Riyadh are to be part of the development industry, which have led us to focus on providing statistical products and services to support the national development tracks of the GCC countries'.

He added; 'We will not hesitate to reconcile the academic and practical sectors in using the emerging statistical information, either by holding the courses that run through leading academics in the statistics field, or by putting them in practice to become applicable and usable smoothly in all related areas'.

It is worth mentioning that the first Gulf statistical forum lasts for three days and hosts 40 Gulf and international speakers from all statistics fields, whether they are data producers, data users or academic sectors. It aims to be a scientific and educational platform for exchanging experiences and discussing some of the key issues related to indicators, that support the economic policies and it measures the sustainable development, as well as discussing the enhancement of the statistical partnerships in the GCC.
