JEDDAH, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – April 9, 2019:   Jeddah University and Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT), a global leader in enterprise backup, recovery, archive, and the cloud, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set the framework of bilateral cooperation between the two organizations in supporting scientific research, training and expertise exchanges in line with the goals of the ‘Saudi Vision 2030’ initiative.

The MoU stipulates that the two sides will cooperate in the fields of training, research, and consultations to benefit from each organization’s expertise in both academic and technical fields. The partnership will involve supporting scientific research, holding workshops on technology and cloud computing, providing training for students, carrying out examinations, and distributing certificates in these areas. It will also involve supporting research projects related to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

Jeddah University will establish a technical training center to provide training for the university’s students, supported by Commvault experts, in addition to running tests and sharing knowledge on cloud computing and data management and protection.

Wael Mustafa, Area Vice President for Commvault in the Middle East said: “This agreement will empower students in KSA in the fields of data protection and management by providing them with the necessary skills and expertise to enter the technical sector, work in it, and lead it in the future.”

Commvault recently hosted its first ever Connections Live event in Riyadh. The event included customers and partners highlighting some of the key trends in data protection and digital transformation impacting industries in Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

Commvault has been working with the Saudi Telecom Company (STC), to deliver Backup-as-a-Service solution and utilizing the STC cloud environment, and this latest MoU with Jeddah University continues to showcase Commvault’s commitment to KSA and the wider Middle East region.
