Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 18th of December 2017 :  The legendary Hollywood star John Travolta, in his first visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, spoke about the instrumental role entertainment plays in bringing together people from diverse backgrounds surrounding art. 

“An Evening with John Travolta” was organized by the General Entertainment Authority in the APEX Convention Center in Riyadh, in which Travolta’s Saudi fans met him for the first time and heard about his journey in Hollywood.

Travolta expressed his gratitude towards GEA for giving him the opportunity to be present in the generous land of Saudi Arabia and praised their efforts in organizing this unique event. “I am very lucky to be the first Hollywood star to visit the Kingdom after the decision to open movie theatres in the country was made”, he added. 

When asked whether he would film any of his movies in the Kingdom, Travolta’s response was positive with an expression of honor at the possibility of the launch of his movie premier in Saudi cinemas, as he would be the first Hollywood star to have done so. 

Travolta also highlighted that the opening of movie theatres will mark a new era in the history of Saudi Arabia, as it will also contribute to identifying talented and skillful organizations and individuals who can support the art and entertainment sector in the country. He also emphasized on the importance of the financial funds in order to increase the production quality of movies. 

The evening with Travolta was adorned by a significantly excited fan based and highly enthused regional and international media. The event witnessed fun interaction between Travolta and his fans as he ensured to answer all fan questions. 

He expressed his admiration for the beauty of the country’s attractions and monuments that he visited, and praised the rich geographical, cultural and artistic diversity in the Kingdom and its importance.

The General Entertainment Authority has witnessed high interest and attendance of citizens with successful programs held in the past and plans for future events as well. Citizens of neighboring countries are also visiting the Kingdom to enjoy the entertaining shows hosted and sponsored by GEA. In the recently held musical show by “Yanni”, 20% of the show’s attendees in the Eastern region came from Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE.
